Role Overview:
IWSR is expanding its Forecasting, Analytics and Modelling capabilities and seeks an economist/econometrician as part of its growing team of data scientists, economists and econometricians. This team is responsible for the production of forecasts and analytics for the global beverage alcohol industry in collaboration with IWSR’s research team. The candidate will also contribute to IWSR’s consultancy projects which typically involve bespoke forecasts, analytics and custom model development to support our clients’ business planning.
Your understanding of economics, econometrics and modelling will be invaluable as part of this expanding team. With a degree in an analytical/quantitative field or relevant professional experience, you will help us deliver high-quality analysis, forecasts and provide analytical advice to our consultancy clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forecast Production: Develop and maintain economic and industry-specific forecasting models in collaboration with the IWSR’s research team. Ensuring that these forecasts are accurate and up-to-date.
- Data Analysis: Analyse economic and industry data to identify relevant trends and insights.
- Consultancy Projects: Contribute to bespoke consultancy projects involving custom forecasts and analytics. Develop tailored models to support clients' business planning. Provide analytical advice and recommendations to clients.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IWSR’s data scientists, senior econometrician and its research team to deliver robust analysis and forecasts. Communicate complex economic concepts and findings to non-specialist audiences. Prepare and deliver presentations and reports.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Over 3 years-experience in delivering economic insights, analytical commentary and econometric modelling. Some experience in market monitoring and analysis is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in quantitative analysis, econometrics and economic modelling. Experience with Excel, R, Python or Stata is an advantage.
- Industry Knowledge: Ability to apply economic theory and apply economic drivers to industry-specific dynamics. Aptitude in identifying new key economic drivers and trends to support the team’s modelling capabilities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Proven ability to work in a collaborative team setting, with strong interpersonal skills and a talent for working effectively with diverse teams. Highly adaptable and flexible to evolving project requirements.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Attention to detail and accuracy in analysis. Ability to develop innovative solutions to industry-specific problems, using data-centred approaches and relevant economic theory.
- Educational Background: Degree in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, or a related analytical/quantitative field.
