Role Overview: Targeting Financial Services (Retention & New Business)
The Strategic Account Manager, Banking Sector is responsible for developing deep, meaningful relationships with institutional clients and key stakeholders within the Equity Research, Investment Banking, and Private Equity divisions of London's financial community. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring our data and insights are fully integrated into the client's valuation models, due diligence, and market analysis processes.
You will be expected to be highly versatile, translating complex beverage alcohol market dynamics into actionable investment theses for financial analysts and investors. This role operates as a hybrid function, balancing excellence in retention and cross-selling within existing accounts, while also actively pursuing and closing new logo business opportunities across the target sector. Key performance indicators include maximizing retention and driving substantial growth revenue.
Who You Are:
Relationship-Oriented: You build rapport and trust quickly with senior stakeholders (e.g., Equity Analysts, VPs, Portfolio Managers), and have a track record of managing and expanding relationships with large financial enterprises in London.
Sector-Savvy Expert: You possess a strong understanding of the financial services ecosystem—specifically the workflow and information needs within Equity Research and Investment Banking. You can translate IWSR data into tangible value for capital markets activities.
Curious and Agile: You’re naturally inquisitive, quick to learn complex data sets, and adaptable in the fast-paced, high-stakes environment of the City.
Subscription Management in a Financial Context: Oversee all aspects of the subscription lifecycle, focusing on high-value renewals, cross-selling specialist data packs, and identifying opportunities for enterprise upgrades across multiple banking divisions.
Results-Driven: You lead by example—showing initiative, maintaining a strong pipeline focus across both retention and new business acquisition, and demonstrating a commercial, take-charge mindset essential for a high-performing London sales environment.
Exceptional Communicator: You are able to convey complex market insights and data analysis clearly and concisely across written, verbal, and presentation formats, often under pressure.
What You’ll Do:
Own and Grow a significant book of business focused exclusively on the UK/EMEA Banking Sector. This includes maximizing client retention and identifying revenue opportunities by embedding IWSR data into existing client investment strategies.
Proactively identify, target, and secure new logo clients within the Equity Research, Investment Banking, and Private Equity communities that do not currently subscribe to IWSR.
Drive adoption and usage across specific financial business units (e.g., sector-specific research teams, M&A due diligence, Private Equity portfolio managers) to expand IWSR’s value and prevent churn.
Forecast retention and identify at-risk accounts early by closely monitoring engagement within the financial institution’s unique usage patterns.
Understand client organizations deeply—roles, KPIs, and current investment mandates—to tailor engagement and messaging that directly supports their financial objectives.
Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers across the Banking hierarchy to position IWSR as the authoritative, go-to partner for beverage alcohol market intelligence.
Address complex data enquiries, resolve client concerns, and find solutions tailored to the needs of a demanding, high-profile financial client base.
Collect market feedback and investment theses to influence IWSR's product roadmap, ensuring our data continues to meet the evolving needs of the global financial community.
