Role Overview:
We’re looking for a Data Delivery Manager to lead our data delivery team — a group of eight analysts responsible for producing and maintaining the data products that sit at the heart of our client offer.
This is a leadership role first. You’ll be the conductor of the team — setting the pace, maintaining standards, removing blockers and making sure the right things happen at the right time. You’ll be close enough to the data to understand what’s going on, and credible enough technically to jump in when it matters. But your primary job is to lead, support and develop the people around you.
Think 80% directing and enabling, 20% doing. You’ll be the escalation point, the problem solver, the bridge between the data team and the rest of the business — research, technology, sales and commercial. You’ll know what’s coming down the pipeline before it becomes a problem, and you’ll have the team ready for it.
This role suits someone who has come up through data — analyst, consultant, or similar — and has developed into a natural leader. Someone who is direct, clear, energetic and protective of their team. Someone who gets things done without drama.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading the team
• Set the pace and direction for a team of eight data analysts.
• Line manage, coach and develop your team — understanding what each person needs to perform and grow.
• Be the energy source: a defender and advocate for your team within the wider business.
• Run regular team check-ins, manage workload and keep delivery on track.
• Own all people administration: holidays, onboarding, training, documentation and time planning.
Driving delivery
• Oversee the weekly delivery calendar — know what’s due, spot problems early and provide solutions before they escalate.
• Act as the escalation point for data issues, methodology questions and product challenges.
• Work with the team to resolve complex data problems, getting hands-on when needed.
• Ensure processes are documented, consistent and continuously improving.
Connecting the business
• Bridge the data team with research, technology and commercial functions — ensuring dependencies are managed and handoffs are clean.
• Work closely with sales on client data queries, helping analysts navigate commercial requirements.
• Keep the team informed and aligned with relevant business updates and priorities.
• Contribute to product development and help shape how data products evolve.
What We’re Looking For
Industry background is less important to us than the person you are. We’re looking for someone with an analytical foundation who has grown into a natural people leader. You’ll likely come from a data, analytics or research background — in any commercial sector — and you’ll bring the following:
Essential
• Proven experience leading or managing a data or analytics team — setting direction, developing people and owning delivery.
• A direct, clear communication style. You say what you mean, you don’t waffle, and you bring clarity to ambiguous situations.
• Strong analytical mindset — you understand data at a meaningful level and can problem solve across processes, products and pipelines.
• Advanced Excel including macros and VBA — used regularly, not just listed on a CV.
• SQL — comfortable writing and interrogating queries to understand and resolve data issues.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and owning data quality and accuracy.
• The ability to juggle multiple priorities, stay organised under pressure and hit deadlines consistently.
• A degree in mathematics, statistics, data, or a related numerate discipline.
Desirable
• Python — useful for automation and process improvement work.
• Experience with ETL processes and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts — star schemas, dimensional modelling.
• Dashboard or visualisation experience (Power BI, Tableau or similar).
• Background in a commercial data, market intelligence or research business.
You’re probably not the right fit if…
• Your experience is primarily in product analytics, A/B testing or user behaviour analysis.
• You’ve spent most of your career in governance, policy or compliance frameworks.
• You prefer to work independently rather than through and with a team.
• You’re most comfortable in large, process-driven organisations where ownership is diffuse.
